A Little Sunshine

Today's post is just a bit of fun I decided to have on Friday night after spending ALL day in bed with the most wicked headache.  I finally got to feeling normal around 9:30P and sat down to do a bit of coloring.  I'd seen the Bellariffic Friday's sketch for October 10th and thought I'd give it a shot.

So I took the Uptown Girl - Audrey Loves Her Makeup and colored her using my prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits.  I fussy cut her and sandwiched her between two pieces of acetate.  The frame was made in the card front in both pieces using the Taylored Expressions - Frame it Up 2 die.   I placed the patterned paper on the front of the card temporarily - and die cut both pieces at once to ensure it would be accurate.  Then before adhering the patterned paper (My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing) to the card base I added Audrey between the two pieces of acetate.  This created a beautiful window that would show the sentiment on the inside of the card.

I was able to draw a clean black line around the frame to accentuate the shape just a bit.  To do so, I fit the die back into the window and use a thin black marker to trace around the die. I think it adds just a bit extra.

The inside of the card ready "Some days you just have to create your own sunshine" and is from another Uptown Girl pair - Sunny is Stylish.

I think she turned out lovely!  Thank you all for stopping by today!!

With Gratitude - Mojo Monday challenge #281

Wow - another year has passed and here I am writing a blog post.  I've been totally distant for almost a year to anyone who may still read this!!  In that year I've moved into my own home - like a real adult!!  I have pictures of the craft studio coming later this week.  I've been snowed in all day and started looking at my list of challenge blogs -- where I encountered the Mojo Monday challenge for this week.    So here's what the sketch was for this week:

And here's what I've come up with:

I used the Thankful Accents stamp set on PTI Simply White card stock with Ranger Archival Black Ink.   I put it up on pop dots, over the paper with the sentiment on it.  The other two circles were cut using a 2.5" circle paper punch out of scraps (the stripes are from the My Mind's Eye new Collectable collection).  I then took a circle stencil that was slightly smaller than the paper circles and drew three circles all offset from one another using a black pen.  Some black seam binding and a black card base and everything was set.

As always the inside is designed to match.  I have the perfect person for this card!

Thank you all for stopping by!

Amy's Friday Sketch #48

So for this week's sketch of Amy's (AMYRS57), I decided to go simple, over the weekend I got one afternoon where one of my good friends and I got to sit down and create stuff. I love days like the one I had on Sunday, I get to sit and not worry about anything but what I'm going to make next. Here's what I came up with:

The kitten was super cute, and reminds me of my cat Magoo. The brown and green flowered paper is My Mind's Eye. The other green and brown card stock is Bazzill Basics. The Cat is embossed on PTI's White Simmer card stock using Ripe Avacado and a holographic embossing powder. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, the flowers are Prima and the rhinestones are from My Mind's Eye.

The interior was a lot of fun, however I have to apologize that I don't know where the stamps are from. They were in my friend's stash, and I forgot to write down the manufacturer. Anyway the interior says "You're Purrrfect" Which I thought was cute. I stamped fish and mice around the border of the interior.

Thanks Amy for another lovely sketch!!!

Scrap Tuesday

So for today's post I decided to use only scraps! Now the idea to do this
came from my laziness... I just got done at the gym where my personal trainer kicked my butt, and then proceeded to write "I Live 2 Lift" in the snow on the hood of my car. Needless to say I was pretty tired when I sat down to make this card last night, but with all that I like the look. The plus side to this is that I was able to use up something that was just sitting around... the down side I can't really tell you much about the supplies. I have a very good guess as to the origins of all of the components. Here we go!

For the card I used what I seem to remember as My Mind's Eye Bohemia paper layered on top of a dark brown Bazzill cardstock. The two hearts are chipboard cut from the Cuttlebug (I'm almost positive they were part of a kit I got at a class I attended at Capture.) I dyed them pink using Technique Tuesday's Coral Bells from their Spring Flowers Ink pad kit. I then embossed them with what I thought was really cool glitter... but when I actually READ the label I found that it was actually embossing powder. I was thrilled! That meant that I got to use the embossing gun that I got from Hobby Lobby! (One of my many crafting Mecca's, and EVERYTHING always seems to be half off) I got a pretty cool holographic look that I wasn't expecting.

I then stamped a very simple sentiment from Technique Tuesday's Loves Me, Loves Me Not stamp set on a piece of scrap white cardstock out of the same Coral Bells ink. And then just played with all of the pieces. The pink strip was added to break up the dark brown, and is spotted with a heart from the same Technique Tuesday stamp set. The corners were rounded and the card was done! Hooray!
