With Gratitude - Mojo Monday challenge #281

Wow - another year has passed and here I am writing a blog post.  I've been totally distant for almost a year to anyone who may still read this!!  In that year I've moved into my own home - like a real adult!!  I have pictures of the craft studio coming later this week.  I've been snowed in all day and started looking at my list of challenge blogs -- where I encountered the Mojo Monday challenge for this week.    So here's what the sketch was for this week:

And here's what I've come up with:

I used the Thankful Accents stamp set on PTI Simply White card stock with Ranger Archival Black Ink.   I put it up on pop dots, over the paper with the sentiment on it.  The other two circles were cut using a 2.5" circle paper punch out of scraps (the stripes are from the My Mind's Eye new Collectable collection).  I then took a circle stencil that was slightly smaller than the paper circles and drew three circles all offset from one another using a black pen.  Some black seam binding and a black card base and everything was set.

As always the inside is designed to match.  I have the perfect person for this card!

Thank you all for stopping by!

The Lil' Dude

For today I decided to keep the card very simple, and I wanted to use the stamp that I call the Lil' Dude. Its actually a stamp that I purchased a while back that I feel I under-use. If I had my way, this cute little guy would be all over. I'm absolutely in love with him! He actually on the actual stamp has a phrase that says "Talk Nerdy To Me", which if you know me ... you know I'm a nerd. This stamp reminded me of my boyfriend when I bought it, I just have yet to use it in something for him.

Anyway, my other goal for the entire week is to use things that I have in my scrap paper bin. You know what bin I'm talking about ladies! The one where you put the paper because it was not cheap to buy and you may use the scraps someday. Well I went through and organized mine tonight by color... and felt really guilty still throwing even the smallest scraps away. So I'm determined to use them when creating the masterpieces for the week.

So for this card I kept it simple. It's an 4.25" by 5.5" (A2) card that I simply cut a piece of cream cardstock at 3.75" by 5" and then some very pretty paper from Scenic Route from a couple of seasons ago cut to 3.5" by 4.75". I chalked the edges of the Scenic Route paper with an olive green and added a piece of olive ribbon. The Thank You is from Technique Tuesday's Simple Sentiments set and is embossed in black.

The circles for my Lil' Dude are cut using my Slice, the green is at 2.5" and the white at 2". The stamp itself is by Inkadinkado and is titled "Talk Nerdy To Me". It is colored in with my new Tombo Markers colors 942 and 743 for his ears. (They were cheaper than Copic's but allowed me to try out the marker aspect of stamping.) I'm actually quite proud of how well it came out. I think when I used this stamp for my cousins birthday card, I used crayons! It looks much better now.

All and all, a pretty simple design. Looking back on it I would tie the ribbon into a bow to make it more appealing and balanced.

What do you think?

Remembering To Post

Good evening all! Well I had my monthly crafting book club tonight at Capture. There were so many new people! It's great to see so many folks getting interested in paper crafting! And the Office, how about that Andrea.. I was laughing so hard!

But then I remembered, I haven't posted today... and though I know people are stopping by I don't know how many are reading. I guess I can't expect too many in my first week, there are so many fabulous crafting blogs out there that mine is just a drop in the ever growing bucket. Now if I'm posting too much of the same thing, let me know! I'll change it up. If you like what I'm doing, let me know so I can keep going. A little encouragement goes a long way.

On with tonight's post! So at book club I happened upon the new Basic Grey Bittersweet collection! And was I ever in love... I just had to buy some of the pages. Absolutely to die for! Here I used Vanilla Fudge across the bottom, on just a piece of pink cardstock. The stamp is Papertrey's Remember set, also amazing stamped in Cherry Blossom and Leaf Ink from Technique Tuesday. The brown dots are Cinnamon Stickles. The brads are from the Paper Studio, and the ribbon I think I got half off at Michaels.

I colored the leaves in with Prismacolor Colored Pencils that have to be as old as I am. I think I got them from my Aunt when I was little. They are in a zebra striped box that is all torn to shreds, but the pencils still work as well as they did when they were new! It doesn't have as much sparkle as some of my past cards, but the simplicity is what makes it special!

Thanks for dropping by!
