Butterfly Sparkle - AmyR's Friday Sketch #46

So for this Friday Sketch from AmyR, I really had no clue of what to do. My stamp sets are currently (very) limited considering I just started doing this a year ago so I don't have much to work with. (I'm working on changing that however and am anxiously awaiting a package from Papertrey Ink which will have all kinds of goodies! I can't wait.) Anyway, so the sketch was lovely and I wanted to do it justice. So after about 3 hours of stamping and coloring butterflies from one of my Bombshell Stamps sets with all different mediums and this is what I settled on.

The card itself is 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 (A2) and is magenta in color. The stripe of pattered paper is from the Arctic Chill from Fancy Pants and is titled Sledding. It was my color inspiration for the whole card. I've always liked the Black and Pink color combo and I thought it would be a change from my normal pink and brown that I seem to be so addicted to on this blog. The black ribbon is Making Memories (I think, it's been in my stash for a long time) And the corresponding fiber is from Basic Grey.

I used my Slice and punches to cut different size circles from 2 1/2 inches for the largest black circle to 3/4 of an inch for the smallest white circle. I then stamped the Bombshell Butterflies on each of the white circles, embossed and then used my Stickles to color them in. (Sequins, Burgundy, Fruit Punch and Gunmetal). The end result was quite sparkly and took a while to dry as you would imagine. (This gave me a chance to clean up while I waited. You see, it was getting quite late and I tend to loose track of time when I'm crafting. I finished this card at about 12:30am) The "Best Wishes" is a sentiment from Technique Tuesday's Simple Sentiments.

Thanks Amy for another great sketch! And thanks to everyone who stops by!

What do you think?

  1. Neat! Those *are* great color combos and the different emphasis on the butterfly works really well (and is a technique I like, though have to admit I don't use much...).

  2. Thanks! I've never used the technique either, but I'm happy with the way that it turned out. Thanks for the comment! It helps knowing that someone is reading :-)

  5. Using just the one stamp and highlighting the different areas of it for the sketch is a VERY cool thing - well done and thanks for playing!! :D
